BFF’s 4 Ever!

Today I am reminded that there is one who bore my guilt, shame and pain on the cross. I know it sounds like the right thing to say on “Holy Week“, but I am in all honesty thankful beyond words.
Staring at the Ocean
You know those times when you have dark thoughts and in a matter of seconds feel the guilt for such thoughts and pray nobody has a clue you are capable of thinking such things? Is good to know we have a judge who knows and still judges us with mercy. No I am not a serial killer! I’m just saying, sometimes ugly thoughts creep into our minds that we definitely need to do as the apostle Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 10:5; “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. (New International Version (©1984)”

When we suffer in silence, it isn’t always because we are full of sin, sometimes we just struggle to understand why things happen the way they do. Other times we question everything we believe, even your own salvation. What I find is that all these things are very natural. To struggle is just a part of our humanity. Never the less, being human brings sorrow that goes beyond thoughts and feelings and sometimes the only one who can help us sort through things is God-our heavenly father. Being born to this flesh is a constant reminder of how desperately we need a savior. Not just a savior who saves, but one who listens and understands every molecule of our bodies.
If you are anything like me, you know there are things we would share with our closest friends, parents, spouse, children, etc. but then there are other things that, well, others simply wouldn’t know how to handle. I’m not saying we all have deep-dark secrets. let’s face it, some of our issues are so absurd, people would laugh at us if we share with them.
I’m just glad, I have someone I can ALWAYS talk to, who won’t judge me, laugh at me or condemn me. He knows where I am coming from and understands my questions, doubts and fears. I’m glad I can share my sorrows with Jesus knowing that He is not so much concerned with where I’ve been as He is with where I am heading. He steers me in the right direction because He loves me dearly, and I in return stay as close to Him as humanly possible. I don’t want to lose what we have; it makes life worth living.

Apostle Paul struggled with those inward thoughts and feeling, as well. He instructs us to daily bring those thoughts under captivity, though coming to the cross. God knows we aren’t perfect, and so He gives us His word to help us. He also has given us the ability to know when those thoughts are from the enemy. “an idol mind is : the devil’s workshop”. We must fill our minds and hearts with praises and “good reports” of the day. Easier said than done…Easier for some, but for some who have suffered hardship in this life, it is a struggle.
